WELCOME
Hi! Welcome to my Art Road Trips website. My name is Stacey Rhoades and I am an Arkansas artist who loves to travel and paint watercolors on location, or en plein air, as many artists have done since the late 1800s. These artists later became known as Impressionists because they captured their impression of a particular scene by working outdoors and working quickly to capture the essential elements of a scene before the light and shadows changed. The advent of photography in the late 1800s freed artists from merely copying reality and led them to express themselves with colorful dabs and dashes of paint. Although I use watercolors instead of the oil paints of the Impressionists, I believe I have developed an Impressionistic style. I would like to think that, in some small way, I carry on the tradition of the Impressionists.
As an artist I readily admit that I am addicted to color. I am always visually attracted to color and bright colors dominate my paintings. My paintings have been called both whimsical and happy. People who live with my paintings tell me that they enjoy having their spirits lifted daily when they see my work. I have an ability to see the beautiful within the ordinary and it is my bliss to share my visions with others through my paintings – to show the world what I see.
So, come along with me. Let’s embark on an Art Road Trip and see what colorful treasures lay ahead, just around the bend. I have six galleries of paintings of vehicles, storefronts, florals, landscapes and buildings, Route 66 images and custom art that are just a click away.
